About Abbey Lodge

Abbey Lodge sits just outside the beautiful Kentish town of Hythe on the coast; magnificent sea views and even glimpses of the French coast are just part of everyday life!

Our home is family run and operated; owners Neil and Elizabeth Bown take a highly hands on role in the home managing the highly experienced and qualified team of uniformed carers. They are ably assisted by the deputy manager; Kath O'Brien who has worked with Neil & Liz since they took over the home in October 1996.

We enjoy looking after our residents and can support and provide them with all their special needs; individuality is so important to hold on to and whether you’d like breakfast in bed or a walk in the garden at a certain time or any number of dietary needs just let us know and we can make it all happen!

Family is important to our residents and we’re happy for them to visit at any time of the day or night. Many of our service improvements over the years have been based on suggestions and feedback from resident’s families so we’re always happy to have you call in and speak to us.

We work hard to find the very best staff who can provide qualified and attentive care whilst being friendly and provide a personal service. The Owner and Manager Liz Bown is qualified with an NVQ 4 in care and a Registered Managers award. She is also an NVQ assessor & trainer so she ensures that all staff are trained and qualified to at least NVQ 2. We run our own in-house training program to enable all staff to access all courses and improve their skills. We have the investors in people accreditation and enjoy great staff retention.
